Float Health, Inc. ("Float," "we," "us," or "our") operates a platform that connects Specialty Pharmacies with Registered Nurses to support home infusion visits for patients.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you use our websites (including floathealth.com and float.health), our mobile applications, and the related services we offer (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy covers website visitors, nurses who provide services through the Float platform ("Nurses"), and representatives of the Specialty Pharmacies and other clients we work with. It does not cover patient health information. When Float handles protected health information on behalf of a Pharmacy or other covered entity, we do so as a Business Associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and under the instructions of that covered entity. For more information, see our HIPAA Statement.
When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:
This section describes exactly what location information Float collects from Nurses, when, and why.
What we collect and when. Float collects the geographic location of a Nurse's device at specific moments only:
Why we collect it. We collect location information from the Nurse to improve the Nurse experience and to comply with Federal Law. Nurse location information is used to electronically verify patient visits, and this practice protects patients: it confirms that scheduled care was delivered where and when it was supposed to be, the same way medication scanning confirms the right drug reached the right patient. Federal law, including Section 12006 of the 21st Century Cures Act and Section 1903(l) of the Social Security Act, requires the use of electronic visit verification ("EVV") for certain Medicaid-funded home visits. EVV systems must electronically verify, among other things, the location where a service begins and ends. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and state Medicaid programs (including Medi-Cal) require this verification as a condition of payment, and our specialty pharmacy partners rely on it for audits and to ensure reimbursement for care delivered. Float applies the same verification standard to Visits on the platform so that records meet this national standard.
Each capture is a single point-in-time reading consisting of geographic coordinates and a timestamp. That is the complete set of location data Float collects through the app.
What we do not collect. Outside of the moments described above, Float does not track, record, or access a Nurse's location. In particular, we do not collect location:
The "While Using the App" location permission on your device is sufficient for this feature. Granting that permission does not mean Float continuously receives your location; it means your device allows the app to request a location reading, and the app only makes that request at the specific confirmation moments described above. This design also means the feature works offline: if you have no signal at a patient's home, the two readings are stored on your device and transmitted when connectivity is restored.
Browser and IP-based location. If you access the Service through a web browser, we may infer your approximate location from your IP address, and we may request your location through your browser (which will ask for your permission) where needed to support Visit verification.
Your controls and the effect of disabling location. You can change the app's location permission at any time in your device settings. Because location capture at arrival and departure is how Float verifies Visits under the EVV requirement framework, Nurses must have location services enabled for the app in order to confirm arrival and departure. If location is disabled, you will not be able to complete Visit verification, which will prevent you from performing Visits on the platform.
